A hunka hunka instant satisfaction!

Happy Sunday

Forgive the title but I'm channelling Elvis this morning; can't get burning love out of my head!

Just dropped by because Sunday is the day that I often hunker (see!!  he's still there...) after something crafty that's easy, and simple, but most of all quick, and while it hasn't been the sunniest start to the day here in South West Scotland I thought I'd quickly put together a tutorial for a coaster should you also fancy a quick fix.

I came up with this pattern a while ago when looking for a simple square crocheted coaster, nothing too fancy, or floral, or pretty, but with great texture.

I NOW HAVE A NEW WEBSITE AND THIS PATTERN CAN BE FOUND AT -

http://psicrochet.com/portfolio-items/simple-place-mat/

Remember I bought some gorgeous squares of fabric with the intention of making a quilt.  I thought they were too green so vowed to buy some more fabric to bring some more blue to the mix.

This is what my shopping spree produced.

I think I've got a better mix now, so I've got a date this afternoon with a cutting mat and rotary cutter.

I guess it's now or never.  (oh shove off Elvis...)

Happy crafting!

Karen

  13. There's something so satisfying about white cotton squares! I love color as much as the next gal, but white is a staple for me. As always your tutorial is wonderfully done making these a breeze even for someone that's never made a granny square. Kudos for teaching the invisible join! It's such a gem - I use it all the time!!

  21. Hello Karen
Lovely sturdy looking coasters. I haven't crocheted a coaster yet but these look ideal and especially the possibility of making a larger mat to go with them.
How's the quilt going? I'm looking forward to seeing the combination of all those lovely fabrics!

    keep well

  24. I could really get some use of a knitted coaster. Thank you for the tutorial, it is really interesting to learn how to make these for beginners. I think that the larger coaster would double as an effective pot holder for larger meals. I would love to see some finished photos from the fabrics.
