Wrist Warmers Anyone?

Hello there,

Despite the weather here still being in the late 20s, it can't last forever, so my hook has been busy with some pure new wool wrist warmers and it is my delight to share the pattern...

Now please be reassured that these are must easier to crochet than it is to write (or read) the following pattern - they are basically an increase cluster, DC 1, a decrease cluster, DC 1, while missing a stitch and inserting a Ch 1 in between each element and then a row of SC...  see easy!

Chevron Lace Wrist Warmers
(Directions written in American Crochet Terms)

Aran weight yarn

4.5 mm hook

Special Stitches -

Dec Cluster –This is basically DC 3 together, but over 5 stitches, so there is a missed stitch between each DC as follows -

  1. YO, insert hook into next SC & draw up loop (3 loops on hook), YO & draw through 2 loops (2 loops on hook).
  2. Miss 1 SC, YO, insert hook into next SC & draw up loop (4 loops on hook), YO & draw through 2 loops (3 loops on hook).
  3. Miss 1 SC, YO, insert hook into next SC & draw up loop (5 loops on hook), YO & draw through 2 loops (4 loops on hook).
  4. YO, draw through all loops on hook.

Inc Cluster –(DC 1, Ch1, DC 1, Ch 1, DC 1) into next stitch.

Directions

Chain 36; being careful not to twist the chain join into a circle.

Row 1: Ch 1, SC in same stitch, SC in every Ch around. Sl St to 1st SC. (36 sts)

Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1st DC + 1Ch); *miss 1 SC, (Inc Cluster) into next st, Ch1, miss 1 SC, DC1, Ch1, miss 1 SC, (Dec Cluster), Ch1, miss 1 SC, DC 1, Ch1*. Repeat from * to * 1 time. Miss 1 SC, (Inc Cluster) into next st, Ch1, miss 1 SC, DC 1, Ch1, miss 1 SC, (Dec Cluster), Ch1, miss 1 SC, join with a slip stitch into 3rd starting Ch.

Row 3: Ch 1, SC in each DC & Ch space around. Sl St to 1st SC. (36 sts)

Row 4: Sl St 2 sts (you need to be above the 1st DC of the Inc Cluster below). Ch 4 (counts as 1st DC + 1Ch); *miss 1 SC, (Inc Cluster) into next st, Ch1, miss 1 SC, DC1, Ch1, miss 1 SC, (Dec Cluster), Ch1, miss 1 SC, DC 1, Ch1*. Repeat from * to * 1 time. Miss 1 SC, (Inc Cluster) into next st, Ch1, miss 1 SC, DC 1, Ch1, miss 1 SC, (Dec Cluster), Ch1, miss 1 SC, join with a slip stitch into 3rd starting Ch.

Repeat Rows 3 & 4 until desired length is reached, finishing with Row 3. Fasten off & weave in ends.  I did 9 pattern repeats altogether.

Quick and easy to whip up for gifts, or just to treat yourself in some really yummy yarn....

Perfect for Autumn.

Happy Hooking Everyone.............xx

  2. Hey I love your pattern. I have a question, please. If I make this design...would they be warm enough for winters? Where I live, it doesn't snow but the winters are chilly.
